Packrat Archive is a simple little set of pages that allows you to enter a link with a description and a category, and have that link show up on a full-page listing. The database automatically adds the entry date to the display, so your readers can see when the last link was entered.

Packrat also allows a little bit of organization for your links. A customizable drop-down menu on the entry page allows you to select a category to assign the link to. By clicking on the category in the main set of links, you’ll be taken to a page of only links in that category. So, you can just look at the links for “Humor” or “Politics” or “Pr0n” or whatever you choose. The number of categories isn’t limited.

Future upgrades will (hopefully) include an administrative page for editing and deleting of entries, a pagination script so that all your links aren’t on one long page, and an add-on script for showing just the last entries–great as a teaser on your front page.

Themes are customizable through a simple CSS file. Only one is included with the zip file.

The zip file includes the following files:

• packrat.php — the actual links page
• packrats.php — the page which displays a specified category
• sets.php — creates the table which drives the application
• important.php — sets the perameters for the application
• entry.php — the page for entering new links
• quick.php — a buffer page that enters the information into the database
• shoebox.css — the default style sheet
• readme.txt — the simple instructions for setup
